ABIA – The Chief of Staff to Abia State Governor, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, has commended the Management and Staff of Government House, Umuahia, for their rare show of gratitude to Governor Alex Otti.

Pastor Ajagba who gave the commendation at Government House Umuahia, during an appreciation visit by the workforce, described the gesture as a clear testament to the Governor Alex Otti administration’s worker-centred reforms.

The Chief of Staff to the Governor disclosed that the current administration has restored dignity, joy and confidence in the Abia civil service through deliberate and data-driven governance, adding that the clearing of salary and pension arrears, regular payment of workers salaries and the payment of long-outstanding leave allowances underscore the Governor’s resolve to prioritise workers’ welfare.

Pastor Ajagba while explaining that the reforms were anchored on proper verification to ensure transparency and accountability, also charged the staff to reciprocate government’s goodwill with improved productivity, discipline and commitment to duty, assuring that the Governor’s fatherly disposition will continue to inspire even greater interventions for the workforce.

Earlier in his speech, the Commissioner for Labour and Productivity, Mr. Kingsley Nwokocha, described Governor Alex Otti as exceptionally worker-friendly, noting that issues concerning leave allowances, promotions and other entitlements were already receiving serious attention. He assured the staff that the government, in collaboration with labour unions and relevant stakeholders, are fully committed to ensuring that all outstanding benefits due to workers will be addressed in due course.

In her remarks, the Director-in-Charge of Government House, Umuahia, Mrs. Onyedikachi Ogwo, expressed deep appreciation to Governor Alex Otti and his Chief of Staff for their fatherly support and responsiveness to staff needs. She described the commencement of payment of leave allowances as historic, noting that it had brought visible joy and renewed hope to workers who had waited many years for such relief.

Also speaking, the Chairperson of Government House Staff Welfare Scheme, Lady Oluchi Ubani, thanked the Governor for prioritizing the interest and welfare of Abia workers and expressed optimism that pending issues, including promotions and full implementation of leave benefits, would soon be addressed.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Mr. Ferdinand Ekeoma, his Investment Promotion, Public and Private Partnership counterpart, Chief Green Amakwe, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mrs Magdalene Ugoanusi, the Director-General, Strategic Communications Bureau, Sir Onyebuchi Ememanka were present during the visit.
