Following the official flag-off of the reconstruction of the Enyimba International Hotel in Aba on February 25, 2026 by Governor Alex Otti, construction activities have commenced barely two weeks after the ceremony, signaling the Abia State Government’s determination to fast-track the revival of the iconic facility.

The swift mobilization of contractors to site highlights Governor Otti’s commitment to transforming critical sectors of the state economy and repositioning Abia as a major destination for tourism, business and hospitality.

The reconstruction project, supervised by the Greater Aba Development Authority and being executed in partnership with the internationally recognized hospitality brand Radisson Blu, is designed to deliver a modern world-class hotel that meets global standards. The initiative forms part of Governor Otti’s broader agenda to stimulate economic growth, create jobs and strengthen the state’s tourism and creative economy.

During an inspection visit to the project site, the Commissioner for Arts, Culture and Creative Economy, Matthew Ekwuribe, accompanied by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Arts, Culture and Creative Economy, Mrs. Matilda Anyamele, a representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Chiwetalu Okosi, and a UNDP tourism expert, Dr. Lily Ajarova and the Project Manager from Amirco Investment Concept, assessed the progress of work and applauded Governor Otti for his visionary leadership and commitment to restoring strategic state assets and positioning Abia as a competitive hub for international conferences, cultural events and investment.
