Abia Govt Reaffirms Commitment to Quality Healthcare Delivery

ABIA – Governor Alex Otti says his administration is committed to equipping health facilities with modern tools, essential drugs and qualified personnel who will deliver compassionate, efficient and professional care.

Governor Otti who stated this at Umuomaiukwu Nsulu in Isiala Ngwa North LGA during the functionalization ceremony of the community’s Primary Healthcare Centre which is among the 200 renovated and retrofitted primary healthcare centres by the present administration in the state under the “Ekwueme Project,” disclosed that his administration’s focus is not only on infrastructure but also on building a robust system that can meet the needs of mothers, children, the elderly and every segment of the population.

The Governor represented by his Chief of Staff, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, explained that the project is not just another building but a testament to the commitment of his administration at ensuring that quality healthcare services are accessible to every Abian, regardless of their social or economic status, adding that his administration came into office with a clear vision of repositioning healthcare delivery in the State.

The State Chief Executive urged the people of Agburuezeukwu Nsulu and its environs to take ownership of the centre and make maximum use of the services it offers as well as support the government in safeguarding the facility.

In his speech, the Commissioner for Health, Prof. Enoch Ogbonnaya, said the event marks another milestone in the journey of transforming healthcare delivery in the State under the visionary leadership of Governor Otti, pointing out that the renovated and retrofitted Umuomaiukwu Nsulu Primary Health Centre is a clear demonstration of the premium value the present administration places on the health and wellbeing of the people.

Prof. Enoch explained that his ministry is fully focused on human resources, training and supply of essential drugs and equipment to make the centres functional and responsive to the needs of the people, and called on the community to take ownership of the facility and protect it.

In their remarks, the Mayor of Isiala Ngwa North LGA, Ambassador Innocent Uruakpa represented by the Supervisory Counsellor for Health, Isiala Ngwa North LGA, Mrs Nkechi Chibueze, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Health, Dr Mrs Ngozi Azodo and the Health Authority Secretary of Isiala Ngwa North LGA, Mrs Charity Agwu, explained that by renovating and retrofitting the Umuomaiukwu Health Centre, alongside many others across the state, Governor Alex Otti is laying a strong foundation for preventive and community-based care, ensuring that citizens receive timely medical attention close to their homes without the burden of long travel or high costs.

In their vote of thanks, the Community leader of Agburuezeukwu Nsulu, Mr Enoch Ugwumba and the women Leader of Agburuezeukwu Nsulu, Deaconess Nkechi Okamgba, commended Governor Otti for prioritizing the health of Abians through the renovation and retrofitting of Primary Health Centres, pointing out that the project is a blessing to their people as it brings quality healthcare closer to their doorsteps, reduces avoidable risks and gives hope to communities.

The newly functionalized facility has consulting rooms, pharmacy, labour room, solar panels, water bath and ultrasound machines, automatic blood analyzing machine, incubator, automatic clave machine, radiant warmer, vital sign monitor among others while staff of the ministry of Health witnessed the functionalization ceremony.
