The Member representing Isialangwa North State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Chief Collins Iheonunekwu, says the unprecedented achievements of Governor Alex Otti in less than three years in office has positioned him for a second tenure in the 2027 general elections.

Hon. Chief Iheonunekwu stated this at Umugba Avor Ntigha in Isialangwa North Local Government Area, during the official reception of over 1,000 members of various political parties who defected to the ruling Labour Party in Amasaa Ntigha Ward 7.

The State Lawmaker noted that the governor’s impactful projects and visionary leadership have continued to speak volumes about his commitment to good governance and urged the decampees to support the administration by sensitizing people at the grassroots on the governor’s achievements.

In his remarks, the Commissioner for Arts, Culture and Creative Economy, Chief Mathew Ekwuribe, disclosed that Governor Alex Otti’s signature infrastructural projects across the state has earned him widespread support from Abians and encouraged the new members to work collectively towards the governor’s re-election in 2027.

Also speaking, the Mayor of Isialangwa North Local Government Area, Ambassador Innocent Uruakpa, a Commissioner in the Abia State House of Assembly Commission, Chief Ezechimere Ihuoma, the State’s Ombudsman, Justice K.C Nwamkpa (Rtd) and Chief Cyril Ishmeal, described the defection as a testament to Governor Otti’s sustained commitment to the development of the state. They commended the decampees for joining what they described as the “moving train” of progress.

Receiving the decampees, the Labour Party Chairman of Isialangwa North LGA, Chief Onyeukwu Ezihe, described their decision as a welcome development. He assured them of inclusion in party activities and urged those who have not obtained their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) or registered their membership online to do so.

In their separate contributions, the Labour Party Ward Chairman of Amasaa Ntigha Ward 7, Chief Hope Osuagwu, the Councillor representing the Ward, Mr. Mishack and a Labour Party chieftain, Mr. Chinenye Ukaegbu, said the mass defection further demonstrated growing support for the governor’s transformation agenda. They called on residents of Isialangwa North to support the political aspirations of Governor Alex Otti, Chief Ginger Onwusibe and Hon. Chief Collins Iheonunekwu.

Responding on behalf of the decampees, Chief Donatus said their decision to join the Labour Party was driven by the visible developmental strides of the governor across various sectors. He expressed appreciation to party leaders and stakeholders in Amasaa Ntigha Ward 7 and Isialangwa North for warmly receiving them.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of the party flag to the decampees, with the ceremony attracting several notable personalities from across the local government area.
