Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti has condoled with Senator Emmanuel Ibok Essien, over the death of his beloved wife, Dr Mrs Grace Emmanuel Ibok Essien.
In his condolence message during a funeral service conducted by the New Apostolic Church, Ikot Abia Idem, Ikot Ekpene in Akwa Ibom State, Governor Otti, described death as an unavoidable end that awaits all mortals.
The Governor represented by his Chief of Staff, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, while describing the deceased as a dedicated Christian, quintessential leader, an educationist and a woman of virtue and industry, who devoted her life to nurturing and inspiring young minds, building confidence and aptitude where none existed, noted that the memories of her brilliance, deligence and unusual sense of responsibility to any task will forever be treasured.
The State Chief Executive enjoined the deceased family, the people of Ikot Abia Idem Ikot Ekpene and all affected by her demise to find comfort in the fact that the deceased lived a life of significance and honour, impacted several lives positively and has gone to rest from the worries of this life.
Also in his condolence message, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, represented by his Deputy, Senator Akon Eyakenyi, described late Dr Mrs Essien as a virtuous woman whose life was marked by compassion, dignity and sustained support for her family and community.
In a homily, Lead Apostle Oscar Nwanza, challenged all to live righteously, pointing out that a day is coming when all will give account of their stewardship on earth.
In a vote of thanks, the Chief Mourner and husband of the deceased, Senator Emmanuel Ibok Essien, described his late wife as an exceptional woman of grace, strength and unwavering devotion, whose love and support were the pillar of his life and family.
He thanked Governor Alex Otti, his Akwa Ibom State counterpart, Pastor Umo Eno, for their presence, solidarity and show of compassion during the period of mourning, noting that their support, alongside that of other dignitaries and well-wishers, had brought immense comfort to him and his family in their difficult time.
Aged 68, Late Dr Mrs Grace Emmanuel Ibok Essien is survived by husband, children, grandchildren and a host of other relatives.
The funeral service which featured prayers for the bereaved family also attracted the presence of distinguished personalities.
