The Director of Amaudo Integrated Mental Health Foundation, the Very Rev’d Kenneth Nwaubani has appreciated Governor Alex Otti for approving the construction of the Amaudo-Itumbauzo road leading to the rehabilitation center that has been in deplorable condition for many years.

The Very Rev’d Nwaubani who made his feelings Public while interacting with journalists in Umuahia,noted that the road has been a night mare to the activities of the center, adding that the Foundation has plans to pick, rehabilitate and discharge forty mentally ill destitutes in the present year, in addition to the sixty residents that are already undergoing rehabilitation in the center.
He noted that the Center also intend increasing awareness on the need for people to improve their help-seeking behavior, increase access to mental health and referrals to mental health clinics as well as reduce stigma and discrimination against mentally sick persons in society.
The Director while urging the public to feel free to access mental health care in the mental health clinic located in their liaison office at no. 55 Eket Street by Enugu road, Umuahia, regretted that the economic hardship of 2025 did a lot of damage to the mental health of the people.
The Rev’d Nwaubani said the foundation is speeding up Collaboration with the Federal Neuro-psychiatric Hospital Enugu on the best way to revive the Community mental health clinics and increase partnership with the state government to strengthen mental healthcare services.
Speaking further on their prospect for the year, the Rev’d Nwaubani said the Center is equally rolling out a mental health COHORTS in Uzuakoli Bende Local Government Area to attend to the mental health needs of the Youth due to increased intake of drugs and other substances.
He also thanked the administration of Governor Alex Otti for the great interest it has shown in mental health and activities of Amaudo rehabilitation center which led to his nomination as a member of the recently inaugurated Abia state Drug Control Committee Headed by the wife of the Governor Mrs Priscilla Otti.
