The Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, has commended the outgoing Commander of the Nigerian Army’s 14 Brigade Ohafia, Brigadier General Olusola Diya, for his dedicated service in ensuring the peace and security of the state during his 12-month tenure.

Speaking while formally welcoming the newly appointed Commander, Brigadier General Hassan Muhammad Bello, Governor Otti highlighted the impressive legacy left by Brigadier General Diya and urged his successor to continue building on these achievements.

Governor Otti further emphasized the importance of leveraging technology in the fight against crime, stressing that security remains the highest priority of his administration. He assured Brigadier General Bello of full support in his mission to uphold and enhance the security efforts in the state.

The Governor wished Brigadier General Diya well in his new assignment and expressed his gratitude for the former commander’s contributions to the state’s safety.

Earlier, during the introduction of the new Brigade Commander, the Special Adviser to Abia State Governor on Security, Navy Commander MacDonald Ubah (Rtd), underscored the Governor’s commitment to security as the foundation of a thriving society. He acknowledged the success of the outgoing commander’s efforts and expressed optimism that Brigadier General Bello will exceed the accomplishments of his predecessor.

In his remarks, Brigadier General Olusola Diya reflected on his year of service in Abia, calling the state his “family” and wishing his successor continued success in furthering the progress made. He also extended his thanks to Governor Otti for the unwavering support that enabled him to achieve significant security milestones with the cooperation of other agencies.

Expressing enthusiasm about his new role, Brigadier General Hassan Muhammad Bello promised to collaborate with other security agencies to continue the progress made under Brigadier General Diya and work towards the Governor’s vision of a peaceful and secure Abia State.
