The Monthly Sanitation Exercise in Abia State for the Month of February holds on Saturday between the hours of seven o’clock in the morning and ten o’clock in morning.

The release signed by the Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Philemon Ogbonna says movement of people and vehicles during the period shall be restricted except those on essential duties who would be required to present on demand, valid identification or any authentic authorization for such exemption.

According to the release, Mayors of the Local Government Councils, Traditional rulers, Town Union Leaders, Religious Leaders, Youth and Women Organizations in the State are required to monitor and sensitize their people on the importance of the exercise and to participate as well.

The release adds that Markets, Motor parks, Private and Public Transport Companies as well as Business premises are to remain closed tomorrow between the hours of 7am and 9am to carry out their own clean-up exercise.

It adds that men of Nigeria Police, Federal Road Safety Corps, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps are to assemble at their usual places of take-off for deployment.

The release further directs that people are to stay at home, clean up their areas and must work with their nose mask.

According to the release defaulters shall be arrested and prosecuted in line with the Abia State Basic Environmental law.
