Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti has officially commissioned the reconstructed Ndoro-Ntalakwu and its adjoining road networks, built by the Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC, in Ikwuano and Umuahia South Local Government Areas.
Speaking at the event held at Ikwueke Central School, Umuigu in Ikwuano LGA, Governor Otti noted that the event marks a pivotal moment in their collective efforts to enhance infrastructure and improve the quality of life for Abians in the rural and urban centres.

The Governor represented by his Chief of Staff, Pastor Caleb Ajagba disclosed that his administration is committed to the continuous spread of growth-enabling socio-economic infrastructure across the State as well as to give individuals, families and businesses the leverage they need to make the most of the resources within their environment.
The State Chief Executive expressed his gratitude to President Bola Tinubu and the current leadership of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) for their unwavering commitment to the development of the region, adding that his vision have been instrumental in addressing infrastructural challenges the people face.
He further commended the engineers, contractors, and the entire team that laboured tirelessly to bring the projects to fruition, and enjoined the people of Ikwuano and Umuahia South to take ownership of the roads, assuring that his administration will remain committed to the development of the State and all the communities within it.
“This administration will also like to collaborate more with you to drive our people-oriented development projects in education, health, road infrastructure, community electrification and other initiatives that are designed to improve the quality of life for our people.”
“May I also plead that you look into the litany of abandoned projects initiated by previous NDDC managements with a view to making budgetary provisions for their completion so as to put them to good use and minimise wastes and criticisms of the noble intention of the Commission.” Gov. Otti stated.
In their speeches, the Minister of Regional Development, Mr Abubakar Momoh, the Chairman, Governing Board NDDC, Mr Chiedu Ebie, MD/CEO NDDC, Chief Samuel Ogbuku and the Abia representative at the Governing Board of NDDC, Chief Dimgba Eruba thanked President Tinubu for providing the commission with an enabling environment to discharge their duties and reaffirmed their commitment towards executing significant projects across NDDC region.
Contributing, the Senator representing Abia Central Senatorial District, Col. Austin Akobundu Rtd, the Senate Committee chairman on NDDC, Mr Asuquo Ekpeyong and the Member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency, Chief Obi Aguocha expressed their gratitude to the NDDC for their renewed commitment in collaborating Government, especially in the areas of shared development interests, also expressed optimism that the roads will be the first of many projects the NDDC will sponsor in the State.
In their remarks, the traditional ruler of Umuigu Oboro community, Eze King Larry, the President General of Oboro clan, Chief Kingsley Nkume and his Oloko clan counterpart, Chief Odinaka Umekwe thanked Chief Emeka Atuma for attracting the project with solar powered street lights and promised to ensure adequate protection and maintenance of the facilities.
Our correspondent reports that the Mayor of Ikwuano LGA, Dr Anthony Nwaubani, members of the Senate committee and executive members of the NDDC, top government officials, traditional rulers were present during the ceremony.
