Abia state Governor, Dr Alex Otti, says his administration is building an Airport city where the business ecosystem of the South East revolves around.
Governor Otti stated this while receiving in audience a delegation of the Sky Master Group, a private Aviation industry with a proposal to partner the state government in providing Aviation services in the Abia Airport City.

He disclosed that the construction of the Abia Airport runaway is progressing, restating the resolve of his administration in building an international Airport that all well meaning Abia and Nigerians will be proud of.
The state Chief Executive while noting that most services the company intends to offer are already incorporated in the Abia Airport, added that the state government’s technical team will further engage them to deepen discussions on some technical areas contained in their presentation.
Earlier in his speech, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Skymaster Aviation Services Company, Prince William Ogbonna, who said that the company is at present providing Aviation services and other Aviation related operations in Port Harcourt and Lagos states respectively, said the company is equally providing similar operations to Milan, Italy.
He disclosed that the visit is in line with the company’s plans to partner the state government in providing Air services including domestic services at the new Abia Airport.
“We are going to be partnering with the state government on a public partnership agreement, One to provide air service, Air service if they want domestically but we are targeting the regional flight operations into Abia”
“We work currently closely with aero contractors who are the champions of aviation in Nigeria, I believe so and our intentions are for the west coast and international but with Abia state with currently with what the governor is doing, there is need for us to work closely private sector wise with the state government in providing domestic flight operation, “Prince Ogbonna stated.
Prince Ogbonna further explained that the company will be utilizing airports around such as PortHarcourt and Owerri airports as to be able to build the traffic that Abia requires to service their airport.
The Chief of Staff to the Governor, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, Commissioners, Special Assistant to the Governor on Lands and Housing and coordinator of Abia Airport Project, Pastor Okorougo Aji among other top government officials were present during the visit.
