The Wife of Abia State Governor, Mrs. Priscilla Otti, has charged Mayors, of the Seventeen Local Government Areas in the State to run a government of empathy and commitment to the dignity of Persons with Disabilities.

Mrs. Otti gave the charge in Umuahia, during the capacity Building for the Mayors on Abia State Disability Law and Disability Inclusion, organized by the State Disability Commission in partnership with the state Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs funded by the European Union.
The Wife of the Governor, who was represented by the Wife of the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Adaeze Emetu, said that she is committed to prioritizing the Welfare of Persons with Disabilities in the State to ensure that their rights and dignity’s are protected.
She disclosed Governor Alex Otti’s commitment and dedication to protecting the fundamental rights of persons with disabilities in the state, and expressed delight in the initiative, which aims at building a more inclusive society for persons with disabilities.
Mrs Otti further thanked the Chairman, Abia State Disability Commission, Mr. David Anyaele for his efforts towards inclusiveness.
Responding, the Chairman Abia State Disability Commission, Mr. David Anyaele, who enjoined the Local Government Areas Mayors, to implement Disability Focused programs, and accommodate people with Disabilities in their budgets and activities, as well as support them in every aspect, lauded Governor Otti’s administration for prioritizing their welfare in the state.
The event which featured lectures also attracted the presence of the Mayor of Ikwuano Local Government Area, Dr Anthony Nwaubani among other Mayors in the State.
