ABIA – The state government says it is currently restoring a 300 KVA/0.35 kVA transformer substation in addition to the ongoing survey work for the routing of a 33kVA line from Ihechiowa to Asaga Ohafia, covering a distance of 27.69 km.

The Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu who disclosed this while briefing newsmen on the outcome of this week’s executive council meeting presided over by Governor Alex Otti, said that the development is part of the ongoing efforts by the Governor Alex Otti’s administration to end many years of darkness in Ohafia and other communities across the state.
He said that the Ministry of Power and Public Utilities, in collaboration with the Greater Ohafia Development Authority (GODA), has completed the community sensitization programme precedent to the restoration of light to Ohafia, and expressed the hope that the restoration of light to Ohafia will be completed by the end of the year.
The Commissioner further said that the ministry was embarking on a major community lighting programme at the ward level to ensure the lighting up of rural communities during the yuletide season.
He urged communities to cooperate with the Ministry of Lands during project-related land acquisitions, assuring that the administration would always act transparently as well as pay due compensation to any acquired land.
