The First Deputy Chairman of the Abia State Traditional Rulers Council, Eze Nelson Achilefu Mmerengwa, has conferred the prestigious chieftaincy title of “Ikoro Ngwa” on the Member representing Isiala Ngwa North State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Chief Collins Ugochukwu Iheonunekwu.

The chieftaincy installation ceremony took place at the Royal Palace Square of Eze Mmerengwa in Isieketa Autonomous Community, Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area of Abia State, and attracted traditional rulers, political leaders, community stakeholders and well-wishers from across the Ngwa land.

Speaking shortly after the installation, Eze Mmerengwa described the title “Ikoro Ngwa” as one reserved for individuals who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, courage, service and unwavering commitment to the unity and development of the Ngwa nation. He noted that Hon. Iheonunekwu’s track record in public service and community engagement informed the council’s decision to honour him.

The royal father disclosed that the decision to confer the title on the lawmaker was based on his consistent advocacy for grassroots development, effective representation in the Abia State House of Assembly and his passion for the preservation of Ngwa cultural values. He added that Hon. Iheonunekwu has remained a dependable voice for his people, both within and outside the state legislature.

Eze Mmerengwa further urged the newly installed chief to see the title as a call to greater responsibility, encouraging him to continue to uphold the virtues of humility, service and unity, while working tirelessly for the progress of Ngwa land and Abia State at large.

In his response, the Member representing Isiala Ngwa North State Constituency, Hon. Chief Collins Ugochukwu Iheonunekwu expressed deep gratitude to Eze Mmerengwa, the traditional institution and the entire Ngwa community for the honour bestowed on him. He described the chieftaincy title as a profound recognition that he does not take lightly.
The state lawmaker pledged to remain committed to quality representation, people-oriented legislation and community development, assuring that the title would further inspire him to do more for his constituents and the advancement of Abia State.
He further dedicated the honour to the people of Isiala Ngwa North State Constituency, whom he described as the backbone of his political journey.
