UMUAHIA – The Chief of Staff to the Governor, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, says the successes recorded by the administration of Governor Alex Otti is driven by the Governor’s clear vision and the conducive environment he has created for appointees and citizens alike to thrive.
Pastor Ajagba who stated this at Government House Umuahia, while addressing the executive of NUJ, BCA chapel who paid him a courtesy visit, noted that the administration’s progress within a short period reflects a leadership that came well prepared with a focused development blueprint.
The Chief of Staff lauded the Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu and the Acting Director General of the Broadcasting Corporation of Abia State, Mr Francis Nwaubani, for effectively supervising the affairs of the Corporation, noting that the present administration has robust plans to reposition the corporation through digital transformation.
He disclosed that while BCA has shown improvement in news content, editorial quality and coverage, it still falls short of the Governor’s broader vision of making it a dominant broadcasting outfit in the South-East and beyond, adding that the budgetary provisions have been made to upgrade facilities and operations, with the aim of building a modern, self-sustaining media organization capable of generating revenue and attracting pride from its workforce.
Pastor Ajagba further emphasized the need for innovation and audience-driven content in the evolving media landscape, urging journalists to align with current trends and the expectations of their target audience as well commended members of the NUJ BCA Chapel for their professionalism and support to the administration of Governor Otti.
Earlier in their speeches, the Chairman, NUJ BCA chapel, Comrade Amaka Ejiofor and the state NUJ Vice Chairman, Comrade Chukwuma Emele, commended Governor Alex Otti for his transformative strides across the state and Pastor for his support to the present administration, noting that the visible transformation across key sectors of the state’s economy reflects effective leadership, coordination and commitment within government.
They further applauded the cordial working relationship between the Chief of Staff and the Governor, describing it as unprecedented and instrumental to the stability and efficiency of governance and also pledged to partner with the government in promoting its achievements while upholding the integrity of the media profession.
