The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Abia State Council, extends heartfelt congratulations to Yahya Alhassan on his well-deserved election as the new national President of the Union.

This celebration comes alongside the many members of the Union across the country, as they acknowledge this remarkable achievement.

Yahaya Alhassan was elected President of the NUJ during the recently concluded 8th National Triennial Delegates Conference held in Owerri, Imo State. Alongside him, other members of the Central Working Committee (CWC) were also elected, including Comrade Victor Ndukwe, the former Chairman of Abia NUJ, who emerged unopposed as the National Treasurer.

In a statement signed by the Abia State Council Secretary, Comrade Iyke Onuegbu, emphasized that Alhassan’s election marks a promising future for journalists in Nigeria.

The release highlighted the overwhelming support and trust Alhassan received in the election, reflecting his broad acceptance and the confidence members have in his ability to lead the Union to new heights.

The release further commended the delegates for their peaceful conduct during the conference and expressed gratitude to the outgone President, Chief Chris Isiguzo, for the innovation and leadership he provided during his tenure.

The Abia NUJ leadership wishes the new leadership a successful term and pledged their unwavering support to President Yahya Alhassan and the newly elected national executive.
