The Abia State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Elder Goodluck Ubochi says the State Government has commenced massive retrofitting of Technical Colleges and other Schools across the state.

Elder Ubochi who dropped the cheering news when he led a technical expert from World Bank, Mr. Nweke Chigboo to Government Technical College, Bende, Ohafia, Nkporo and Isuikwuato Local Government Areas, said that the essence of the massive retrofitting work is to ensure that Technical Colleges among other Government Schools are more conducive for effective teaching and learning.

The Commissioner represented by the Director of Science, Technical and Vocational Education of the Ministry, Deaconess Hope Nwosu said the desire of Governor Alex Otti for setting up the structures to a good standards is to ensure Abia students studying in Technical Colleges be able to harness their skills, potentials in Life and encourage massive productions.

While reviewing benefits derivable from technical education ventures and enhancement in socio-economic and development of every society, he reiterated government’s avowed commitment in ensuring Technical Colleges across the State live up to expectations.

Speaking while receiving the Commissioner’s representatives alongside his entourage, the Traditional Ruler of Ntalakwu Ancient Kingdom, Eze Chike Okorie, expressed excitement over the visit by the Ministry and commended the Education Friendly Governor, Dr Alex Otti for his Love towards education as well as appealed to him to reconstruct Ntalakwu road and Senior Technical School Ntalakwu in Bende Local Government Area.

Contributing, the Principal of Government Technical College Ania Ohafia, Sir Vincent Nwachukwu, the Junior Principal of Secondary Technical School Ovim in Isuikwuato Local Government Area, Mrs. Theresa Ukaumunne and the Principal of Ntalakwu Technical Secondary School, Mr. Ege Kalu applauded the Governor for his passion to the education needs of Abia students and appealed to him to deploy Technical Teachers and provide security to forestall vandalizing School properties.
