Owners of shops and properties with projections across the Umuahia, Abia State Capital, have been given up to thirteenth of this month to dismantle them or have them being removed by government.

The General Manager, Umuahia Capital Development Authority (UCDA) Mr. Kingsley Agomoh, who gave the directive in a meeting with Landlords and Property Owners in the Agency’s office, Ogurube Layout Umuahia, noted that government will no longer accept projections and attachments that deface the aesthetics of the city.

Mr Agomoh explained that the agency will, in a few days, come up with acceptable standards and uniform projections that can be used.

He frowned at the attitude of people who display wears and other materials on the roads, an act that is unacceptable, warning that government will no longer tolerate such behaviour.

The UCDA General Manager directed Property Owners who change their approved purpose clause to revert to the original plans immediately before applying for change of purpose clause, pointing out that the present administration is committed to ensuring orderliness in business activities, in all parts of the state.

He maintained that the present administration believes in engaging the people before taking decisions and has the political will to do what is right, explaining that the government will, before the end of the year, move traders at isigate to a permanent market, which is ongoing at Afara Ukwu Ibeku to give the State Capital the desired outlook.
Mr Agomoh advised the residents to support the efforts of Governor Otti, who has shown commitment to the development of the state within the twenty months he has been in the office.

He noted that the dilapidated road infrastructure which the state is known for has changed with the coming on board of the present administration that has built many roads in Umuahia, Aba, and other parts of the state, while many others are ongoing in a bid to ensure even development of the State Capital and other parts of the state.

Responding, some of the Property Owners and Landlords, including Mr Egbuta Asu, Chinedu Nwankwo, Madu Michael, among others, who acknowledged the giant strides of the Governor that have enhanced business activities and the image of the state, assured that they will support policies and programs of the state government.

Our correspondent, reports that the Director of Town Planning, UCDA, Mr Tony Onyemereneche among other HODs was present during the meeting.
