ABIA – Governor Alex Otti has described the late Senator and lawyer, Dr Jaja Anucha Wachuku as a great Icon, a leader of repute and an exceptional leader who left behind Sterling legacies.

Governor Otti who was speaking at the 108th post humous Birthday of the first indigenous Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives and first Nigerian Minister of foreign Affairs and Senator, Dr Jaja Anucha Wachuku organized by the state government at the Anglican Grammer School, Nbawsi, Isialangwa North LGA., also described him as a brilliant lawyer.

Governor Otti who said he was moved to undertake the celebration of Senator Jaja Wachuku and retrofitted his House after coming across a write up about him and what he stood for.

He described Senator Jaja Wachuku as a father and Elderstateman who accomplished a lot, noting that his administration will soon immortalize Late Senator Jaja Wachuku.

In their separate speeches, Senators Enyinnaya Abaribe, Nkechi Nworgu, Bob Nwannunu, Darlington Nwokocha, the member representing Isiala Ngwa North and Isiala Ngwa South Federal Constituency, Chief Ginger Onwusibe, the Speaker, Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Emeruwa, among others, while noting the immense contributions of late Jaja Wachuku, extolled Governor Alex Otti for celebrating humanity and excellence. They called for the immortalization of the great Igbo leader who stood for what is right.

Earlier in his remarks, the Chief of Staff to the Governor and son of the soil, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, said that Late Senator Jaja Wachuku was an icon, who was dear to the Ngwa nation and Nigerians at large, regretting that it took long before he could be recognized and celebrated.

In their goodwill messages, the leader of Ngwa Nation, Chief Theo Nkire, the President, Oha Nsulu Unity Forum, Chief Eric Opah and Professor Paul Ananaba SAN, commended Governor Otti for honouring the Late Senator Wachuku, describing the gesture as unprecedented and a great honour to Ngwa Nation.

In a vote of thanks, the first son of late Senator Dr Jaja Anucha Wachuku, Mr Ndubuisi Jaja Wachuku, described Governor Otti as a leader cast in the mould of Dr. Michael Okpara and Dr. Sam Mbakwe of blessed memories and also thanked him for his style of governance which reflects vision, courage, integrity and commitment to the public good.

The event which featured the unveiling of the renovated building, library and laying of wreaths on the tombs of the late Senator Jaja Wachuku and wife by Governor Alex Otti and his wife, while the Crème de la crème” of Ngwa Nation including the member representing Isiala Ngwa North State Constituency, Hon. Chief Collins Iheonunekwu, the clergy, traditional rulers, were present at the event.
