The First Lady of Abia State, Mrs. Priscilla Otti has enjoined Abians to embrace Agriculture which she described as the back bone of the economy and a key driver of future prosperity.

Mrs. Otti who gave the advice in her office during a stakeholders meeting on the Agriculture Support Programme, a Renewed Hope Initiative of the Wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu in collaboration with her office and the Federal and State Ministry of Agriculture, said the initiative is empowering women and youths to promote sustainable agricultural practices.
The Wife of the Governor represented by the Wife of the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Adaeze Emetu said the present administration is committed to ensuring the effective implementation of the Agriculture support programme in Abia State.
According to Mrs. Otti, in support of the Renewed Hope Initiative of the Wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, her office will be training and empowering women and young farmers, to enhance their participation in the Agricultural Value Chain and Expansion of the Every Home – A Garden Campaign, to encourage home grown food production and self-reliance.
Speaking, the Desk Officer, Abia State Agriculture Support Programme, Mrs. Amarachi Anyim, said the initiative is to make people embrace agriculture, especially cultivating small gardens to grow vegetables, to ensure food security and empower people to break free from cycles of poverty.
In her remarks, the Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Cliff Agbaze, represented by the Assistant Chief Admin Officer of the Ministry, Mrs. Obianuju Okpechi, thanked the Wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for the initiative as well as appreciated the Wife of the Governor, Mrs. Priscilla Otti for prioritizing Agriculture, to ensure food sufficiency in Abia and pledged the ministry’s support to the present administration.
