Residents of Ward 2 in Aba North Local Government Area have called on the Abia State government to urgently intervene in tackling the growing erosion challenge threatening their homes and livelihoods.

The affected residents who expressed their deep concerns over the devastating effects of erosion in their communities during a strategic meeting of the Ward in Aba, expressed fear that the situation could worsen if left unchecked.
They urged government to leverage the Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project (NEWMAP) to curb the situation and prevent further environmental degradation, while pledging their support for Governor Otti’s administration.
Speaking, the leader of the Ward and Special Assistant to the Abia State Governor on Arts, Culture, and Creative Economy, Mrs. Matilda Anyamele, assured the residents that the administration of Governor Alex Otti remains committed to infrastructural development across all parts of the state.
Mrs. Anyamele while emphasizing that the governor’s agenda is inclusive, ensuring that every ward benefits from his transformative leadership, noted that the present administration in Abia State is actively working on sustainable solutions to address erosion challenges across Abia, particularly in areas most affected by environmental degradation.
