The Labour Party stakeholders in Nsulu, in Isiala Ngwa North LGA, have reaffirmed their unwavering support for the administration of Governor Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, while unveiling a comprehensive grassroots mobilisation strategy aimed at consolidating the party’s strength ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
This was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of a virtual stakeholders’ meeting held on Friday, July 31, 2026, under the chairmanship of the Chief of Staff to the Governor of Abia State and Leader of the Labour Party in Nsulu Nation, Dr. Caleb Ajagba.
The meeting reviewed issues bordering on party unity, grassroots mobilisation, voter engagement, political participation and the socio-economic development of Nsulu, resolving to strengthen cohesion within the party and deepen support for the Labour Party-led administration in Abia State.
Stakeholders commended Governor Otti for what they described as the remarkable transformation taking place across the state, particularly the execution of strategic projects in Nsulu, including the Abia International Airport, the Umuomaiukwu Smart School and several road infrastructure projects.
They unanimously resolved to foster greater unity within the Labour Party, stressing that every member, irrespective of when they joined the party, should enjoy equal status, mutual respect, inclusiveness and equal opportunity to contribute to the growth of the party.
As part of preparations for the 2027 polls, the stakeholders agreed to intensify grassroots sensitization across all communities in Nsulu to effectively communicate the achievements of the present administration and consolidate electoral support for the Labour Party.
The meeting also reaffirmed its commitment to supporting all Labour Party candidates at every level of the forthcoming elections, noting that the party’s success would depend on collective responsibility, unity of purpose and coordinated action.
On the Abia International Airport project, the stakeholders welcomed the assurance by Dr. Ajagba that compensation for persons affected by the airport land acquisition had been approved by the state government, expressing confidence that all eligible beneficiaries would receive their entitlements.
The meeting further expressed satisfaction with the government’s ongoing efforts to address electricity challenges in Nsulu Nation, especially in Umunna Nsulu, and expressed optimism that work on the project would commence in the near future.
The stakeholders equally encouraged eligible indigenes of Nsulu to take advantage of the various empowerment and capacity-building initiatives of the Abia State Government, including TECHRISE, the Abia Leadership Academy, the Abia Smart School Initiative and other youth-focused programmes.
To ensure effective implementation of its resolutions, the meeting approved the immediate constitution of three strategic committees: an Empowerment Committee, a Voter Education and Sensitisation Committee, and a Mobilisation Committee.
The committees are expected to coordinate government empowerment opportunities, promote voter education and PVC collection, strengthen party structures, foster reconciliation where necessary and mobilise support for Labour Party candidates.
The meeting underscored the importance of the recently concluded Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise and urged eligible voters to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) as soon as they become available.
Stakeholders also appealed for the accelerated execution of ongoing and proposed infrastructure projects across Nsulu, particularly strategic road projects and other critical public infrastructure capable of driving socio-economic development.
As part of efforts to sustain regular engagement, the meeting resolved that stakeholders’ meetings would henceforth be held in a hybrid format, comprising monthly virtual meetings and bi-monthly physical meetings to facilitate effective coordination and periodic assessment of progress.
The stakeholders further called on all members and supporters of the Labour Party to conduct themselves with maturity, civility and political decorum throughout the electioneering period by embracing issue-based campaigns, peaceful coexistence and responsible democratic participation.
The meeting concluded with a vote of appreciation to Dr. Caleb Ajagba for his leadership and commitment to the development of Nsulu, reaffirming the stakeholders’ collective resolve to work in unity towards sustaining good governance, strengthening democratic participation and ensuring the electoral success of all Labour Party candidates in Nsulu and across Abia State in the 2027 elections.
