COMMUNIQUÉ ISSUED AT THE END OF THE NSULU LABOUR PARTY STAKEHOLDERS’ VIRTUAL MEETING HELD ON FRIDAY, 31 JULY 2026
The Nsulu Labour Party Stakeholders held a virtual meeting on Friday, 31 July 2026, under the chairmanship of the Chief of Staff to the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Caleb Ajagba, to deliberate on matters relating to party cohesion, grassroots mobilization, political participation, voter engagement, and the socio-economic development of Nsulu.
After extensive and fruitful deliberations, the meeting reached the following resolutions:
- The meeting reaffirmed its unwavering support for the administration of His Excellency, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, and commended the Governor for the remarkable transformation taking place across Abia State, particularly the execution of strategic projects within Nsulu, including the Abia International Airport, the Umuomaiukwu Smart School, and several road infrastructure projects.
2.Stakeholders unanimously resolved to strengthen unity within the Labour Party in Nsulu, emphasizing that every member, irrespective of when they joined the party, enjoys equal status and should be accorded mutual respect, inclusiveness, and equal opportunity to contribute to the growth of the party.
3.The meeting resolved to intensify grassroot sensitization and mobilization across all communities in Nsulu with a view to effectively communicating the achievements of the present administration and consolidating support for the Labour Party ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
4.Stakeholders reaffirmed their commitment to supporting all candidates of the Labour Party at every level of the forthcoming elections, recognizing that the success of the party depends on collective responsibility, unity of purpose, and coordinated action.
5.The meeting welcomed the assurance by the Chief of Staff that compensation for persons affected by the Abia Airport land acquisition has been approved by the State Government, expressing confidence that all eligible beneficiaries will receive their entitlements accordingly.
6.The meeting further welcomed ongoing government efforts to address the electricity challenge in Nsulu nation especially in Umunna Nsulu and expressed optimism that work would commence in the near future.
7.Stakeholders encouraged eligible indigenes of Nsulu to take full advantage of the numerous empowerment and capacity-building programmes of the Abia State Government, including TECHRISE, the Abia Leadership Academy, the Abia Smart School Initiative, and other youth development programmes.
8.To facilitate effective implementation of the resolutions of the meeting, three strategic committees were approved for immediate constitution, namely:
Empowerment Committee – to identify, profile, and coordinate eligible beneficiaries for various government empowerment, entrepreneurship, employment, and capacity-building programmes.
Voter Education and Sensitization Committee – to educate eligible voters on the importance of Continuous Voter Registration (CVR), Permanent Voter Card (PVC) collection, civic participation, and the achievements of the Labour Party-led administration.
Mobilization Committee – to strengthen party structures at the grassroots, foster reconciliation among members where necessary, coordinate stakeholder engagement, and mobilize support for all Labour Party candidates ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
9.The meeting underscored the importance of the just concluded Continuous Voter Registration exercise and the need for timely collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) when available.
10.Stakeholders appealed for the accelerated execution of ongoing and proposed infrastructure projects within Nsulu, particularly strategic road projects and other critical public infrastructure capable of enhancing socio-economic development across the area.
11.The meeting resolved that stakeholders’ meetings shall henceforth be held in a hybrid format, comprising monthly virtual meetings and bi-monthly physical meetings, to ensure continuous engagement, effective coordination, and regular appraisal of progress.
12.The meeting called on all members and supporters of the Labour Party to conduct themselves with maturity, civility, and political decorum throughout the electioneering period, promoting issue-based campaigns, peaceful coexistence, and responsible democratic participation.
13.The meeting expressed profound appreciation to the Chief of Staff, Dr. Caleb Ajagba, for providing purposeful leadership and for his firm commitment to the development of Nsulu as the Leader of Labour Party in Nsulu nation. Stakeholders reaffirmed their collective resolve to work in unity towards sustaining good governance, strengthening democratic participation, and ensuring the continued electoral success of all Labour Party candidates in Nsulu and across Abia State from House of Assembly to Governorship elections.
