Abia State Government has commenced the clearing of the access road leading to the runway of the Abia Airport Nsulu amidst jubilation from members of the host communities.

Speaking at the site at Umuala Nsulu in Isialangwa North LGA, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Pastor Calab Ajagba reiterated that the government of Dr. Alex Otti is sincere in carrying out the project in collaboration with the federal government.
Pastor Ajagba explained that the excitement of the land owners is an evidence that the people are receptive to the airport project unlike the falsehood that was earlier propagated at the inception of the project process.
Announcing the commencement of payment of compensation to the land owners by the State government, Pastor Ajagba commended members of the host communities for their patience and understanding and urged the contractors to work with the locals.
Also speaking, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Lands and Housing and Project Coordinator of the Abia Airport Project, Pastor Okorougo Aji, disclosed that the commencement of the payment of compensation to the land owners and clearing of access road to the airport marks a significant milestone in the project.
In their speeches, the leader of Nsulu Land Owners in the Government Joint Steering Committee and Chairman of the Memorandum of Understanding Committee of the Airport project, Chief Uzor Azubuike and the Secretary of the committee, Sir Andrew Ijeri commended Governor Alex Otti for heeding to their plea of reducing the airport land size from 1,800 hectares to 1,025 hectares as well as for carrying the people along in the process.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the Community Relations Committee for Nsulu Airport Project, Rev. Isreal Ukaoma, the Nsulu Youth President, Prince Chisom Nwaogbe, the Umuala Youth President, Ifeanyi Nwachukwu, Mrs. Bridget Ijenri, and Mrs. Gift Umeh expressed joy over the commencement of the Airport Project and assured that they would support government in ensuring that the project is realized in record time.
In his address earlier, the Manager of CRANEBURG Construction Company, Seba El-Nemer while thanking Governor Otti and Nsulu people for the successful commencement of the clearing of access road to the airport runway and the fencing, disclosed that they are engaging both skilled and unskilled manpower within the host communities for the execution of the project.
Members of the host communities and government officials were present to witness the commencement of the project.
