A tragic incident unfolded late Sunday night along the Otukpo-Adoka road in Benue State, where gunmen believed to be herdsmen ambushed a commercial vehicle, shooting the driver and abducting all passengers.
Eyewitnesses reported that the attack occurred around 11pm as the vehicle traveled from Abuja to Otukpo. The assailants, upon sighting the vehicle, reportedly opened fire, striking the driver and forcing the vehicle off the road into surrounding bushes.
Following the attack, all passengers were forcefully taken by the gunmen, who left the vehicle behind at the scene.
The deceased driver, who was identified as a resident of Adoka, has been confirmed dead, and his remains have been returned to his hometown.
Meanwhile, military forces have moved into the area and have begun a search operation to track down the perpetrators.
