The Special Adviser to the Abia State Governor on Internally Generated Revenue, Dr Emmanuel Okpechi, has charged religious organisations to live up to expectations by contributing meaningfully to the development of society.
Dr Okpechi made the call while speaking at the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Umuogo District Headquarters, Umuahia.
He expressed appreciation to the church for recognising his family’s contributions to the work of God and humanity, assuring that he would remain committed to supporting worthy causes.
The Special Adviser urged religious organisations to continue to uphold their responsibilities to society, particularly through acts of service, compassion and support for the less privileged.
Also speaking, the District Pastor of Umuogo Church, Pastor Festus Awuloha, reminded wealthy members of society that God’s blessings are entrusted to them for the service of humanity.
Pastor Awuloha challenged the well-to-do to shun selfishness, greed, stinginess and other forms of wickedness, urging them to use their wealth to reach out to those in need.
Making reference to the biblical account of the rich young ruler, the cleric warned against hoarding God’s blessings and failing to use them for the benefit of others.
Pastor Awuloha commended Dr Okpechi for his service in God’s vineyard, describing him as a man known for kindness, love and humility. He prayed for God’s continued blessings upon him and his family.
The highlight of the church service was the presentation of a portrait of honour to Dr Emmanuel Okpechi and his wife, Uloma, in recognition of their contributions to the work of God and humanity.
