ABIA – Governor Alex Otti has condoled the Obi family of Amankwo Inyi, Oji River Local Government Area of Enugu State, over the death of their matriarch, Ezinne Augustina Ananyenwa Obi.
Governor Otti, in his condolence message at the funeral service conducted by St. Edmond’s Catholic Church, Amankwo Inyi, said the death of Ezinne Obi has created a huge vacuum in the family, community and the hearts of all those she positively impacted.
Governor Otti represented by his Chief of Staff, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, described the deceased as a woman of virtue, a devout Christian and a caring mother and grandmother.
He noted that Ezinne Obi was a beacon of hope and inspiration to her community, earning the love and admiration of many through her humble disposition and exemplary life.
The Governor encouraged the bereaved family, particularly their son-in-law and member representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Amobi Ogah, to draw comfort from the fact that she lived a long and fulfilled life, gave freely, loved selflessly and had gone to rest in the bosom of the Lord.
In a homily titled “Are You Wise?”, Rev. Fr. Vincent Okeoshi reminded the congregation of the need to constantly examine their lives and live righteously, stressing that a day would come when everyone would give an account of their stewardship on earth.
In their tributes, the first son of the deceased, Mr Emeka Obi, the son-in-law and member representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency, Hon. Amobi Ogah, described Ezinne Obi as a loving, selfless and virtuous woman who dedicated her life to the wellbeing of her family and the service of God and humanity.
They expressed appreciation to Governor Otti, Pastor Ajagba and other dignitaries who joined the family to mourn and honour their late matriarch.
Aged 82, Ezinne Augustina Ananyenwa Obi is survived by her children, grandchildren and other relatives.
The funeral service, which featured prayers for the repose of the deceased’s soul and comfort for the bereaved family, attracted Senator Uche Ekwunife, former Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Dr Uche Ogah, Secretary to the Abia State Government, Dr Emmanuel Meribole, President of Abia Leadership Academy, Prof. Kenneth Kalu, members of the State House of Assembly, Mayors and other distinguished personalities.
