ABIA – Governor, Dr Alex Otti, has congratulated a remarkable professional, visionary leader and Abia born Mrs Ekeoma Ezeibe, on her investiture as the 23rd President of the Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB) and the 3rd female President to occupy the position since its inception 63 years ago.

Speaking at the event held at Landmark Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos State, Governor Otti, noted that the event signals a significant moment for the Nigerian insurance community and a clear demonstration that competence, character and courage still define leadership in the nation.

The Governor represented by his Chief of Staff, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, disclosed that the uniqueness of the brokerage profession is anchored on its role as the bridge of trust in the insurance value chain, while reminding them that their role in advising, structuring, restructuring and ensuring fair treatment to their clients remains crucial.

The State Chief Executive while pointing out that insurance is not a luxury but a critical enabler of resilience, investment and inclusive growth, called on Insurance Brokers to use the occasion to reflect on the realities the nation’s economy is contending with including the macro-economic volatility, infrastructure gaps and the vulnerabilities of a mostly informal enterprise landscape.

He called on the new president and the entire NCRIB to deepen her relevance by moving beyond mere compliance to policies to creatively understand the needs and expectations of the consumers of insurance products and services and ensuring that they are not just provided, but must offer protection to the public interest by elevating standards and ethics, expanding the market and making insurance relevant to everyday life and enterprise. He challenged NCRIB to work assiduously towards strengthening the profession by investing in people, technology and data in order to unite the industry as it strives to build bridges with stakeholders, regulators, and policymakers on the basis of transparency and shared purpose.

Governor Otti during the ocassion disclosed that his administration takes seriously the responsibility to reduce uncertainty in business by creating the right environment for businesses to thrive through investments in infrastructure, intentionally supporting the MSMEs, driving reforms that cut red tape and strengthening social services that underpin human capital development.

He further congratulated the entire National Council of Registered Insurance Brokers family, the council, past Presidents, Council members and the Secretariat for the steady progress the industry has continued to demonstrate over the course of 63 years, assuring of his administration’s willingness to collaborate with them in the areas of public awareness, safety and compliance, MSME resilience, agriculture and climate for the good of Abians and the nation at large.

The investiture which featured goodwill messages also attracted the presence of the Member representing Isiala Ngwa North and Isiala Ngwa South Federal Constituency, Chief Ginger Onwusibe, Eze Dr Uche Aliche and wife, the husband of the new President, Barr Azubuike Ezeibe, Dr Eric Opah, President General of Oha Nsulu Development Forum, Sir Samuel Onukwue, government functionaries, Stakeholders in the Insurance industry and a host of other prominent personalities.
