The wife of Abia State Governor, Mrs. Priscilla Otti, has flagged off a two-day free medical outreach organized by the Ijeoma Barrah Foundation.
Speaking at the event, which was held at Osusu Primary School in Isiala Ngwa North LGA, Mrs. Priscilla described access to quality healthcare as critical to the overall development of any society.
The wife of the Governor, represented by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Special Duties, Mrs. Matilda Anyamele, commended the founder of the Ijeoma Barrah Foundation, Mrs. Ijeoma Barrah, for her humanitarian efforts, especially in catering to the medical needs of the indigent in society. She added that the outreach would go a long way in alleviating the medical challenges faced by the beneficiaries.
In her welcome address, the founder of the Ijeoma Barrah Foundation, Mrs. Ijeoma Barrah, explained that the foundation, a non-governmental and non-profit organization, is focused and committed to providing necessary support to widows and youths, offering basic amenities, and ensuring access to quality healthcare for the people.
The US-based medical practitioner, represented by the Coordinator of the Foundation, Mrs. Miracle Nwokocha, disclosed that the free medical outreach would feature both free medical checks and surgeries. She also thanked Mrs. Otti and the Mayor of Isiala Ngwa North LGA, Ambassador Innocent Uruakpa, for their support.
In his goodwill message, the Mayor of Isiala Ngwa North LGA, Ambassador Innocent Uruakpa, commended Mrs. Ijeoma Barrah for her humanitarian efforts and sustained commitment to the initiative. He encouraged the people of Osusu to ensure they undergo regular medical checks to prevent illnesses from reaching critical stages.
In their responses, some of the beneficiaries of the free medical outreach, including Mrs. Joy Samuel, Mr. Ikechi Okezie, Mr. Iheanacho Nweze, and Mrs. Vivian Chimereka, among others, thanked Mrs. Ijeoma Barrah for her numerous humanitarian and philanthropic gestures and prayed that God would continue to bless her.
Our correspondent reports that the free medical outreach featured free eye and BP checks, malaria and typhoid testing, dispensing of related medications, intermediate surgeries for hernia, and the commissioning of the borehole sunk by Mrs. Ijeoma Barrah for the Osusu people by Ambassador Uruakpa.
