ABIA – Governor Alex Otti has reaffirmed the transformative power of God’s Word as the ultimate guide for personal and societal development.

Governor Otti who made his feelings known at the Master Vessels Ministry, No 73 Azikiwe Road Umuahia, during the 60th Diamond Jubilee Anniversary of the Bible Society of Nigeria (BSN), maintained that the word of God remains the foundation upon which divine authority, peace and lasting solutions are built.

The Governor represented by his Chief of Staff, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, while emphasizing that nothing God does is outside His Word which serves as His compass in all matters, explained that God’s integrity is reflected in His faithfulness to His Word, as it never returns void but always accomplishes its purpose.

The State Chief Executive further explained that a deep understanding of God’s Word removes fear of the unknown and urged individuals and communities to give greater attention to the study and application of the scriptures as well as align with God’s Word which guarantees stability, hope and direction in uncertain times.

He announced the state government’s readiness to partner the Bible Society of Nigeria in advancing the spread of God’s Word, and also commended the leadership of BSN in the state for the good works they are doing.

In his welcome address earlier, the National Trustee, Bible Society of Nigeria and BSN state area Chairman, The Most Rev. Dr. Isaac Nwaobia, explained that BSN has over the last 60 years, being at the forefront of making the Holy Bible available, affordable and accessible in Nigerian languages, adding that the Diamond celebration is both a Thanksgiving to God and a call to renew their collective commitment to the moral foundation of the nation through the word of God.

In a homily, the Rector of Trinity Theological College, Umuahia, Ven. Dr. Gerald Nwabuisi, described the word of God as the Christian compass that illuminates, impacts, transforms and directs christians on how to live godly lives.

The Diamond celebration which attracted the presence of the Special Assistant to the Governor on Religious Affairs, Apostle Kenneth Wiper among other distinguished personalities, also featured prayers for the state government, presentation of awards and official launch of “One Million Bible Fund,” aimed at printing and freely distributing one million Bibles to schools, correctional centres, rural communities and the less privileged across the nation.
