Abia State Government says the education sector in the state will witness positive developments this year.

The Special Adviser to the Governor of Abia State on Education, Sir Kenechukwu Nwosu who disclosed this while featuring in a BCA Radio programme “Executive Brief”, said the education sector remains one of the focal sectors of the State government because Governor Alex Otti loves education and human development.

Sir Nwosu disclosed that both Public and Private schools in the state will resume academic activities for 2024/2025 Second Term academic session next week Monday and urged parents and guardians to release their children and wards to commence school immediately.

He revealed that a special taskforce has been set up to ensure no child is found hawking goods during school hours adding that the free education for Abia children is still in place and urged parents to report any school collecting any fee from them to the Education Authority close to them.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Education further made it clear that more than two hundred and twenty Primary and Secondary Schools will be reconstructed and retrofitted across the Seventeen Local Government Areas of the State to create conducive teaching and learning environment for both students and teachers and stated that security will also be provided to secure facilities in the schools.

Sir Nwosu called on Abians to continue to support the good initiatives of Governor Otti in the Education sector.
