As part of efforts to rejuvenate the Agricultural sector and enhance food security, the Abia State Government through the Ministry of Agriculture has pledged to partner Kitovu Technology Company to introduce a ground breaking Initiative aimed at empowering farmers and enhancing Agricultural productivity in the State.

Speaking while announcing the partnership during a meeting held at the Ministry’s Headquarters, Umuahia between Farmers in the State and other Stakeholders in Agriculture Sector, the state Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr Cliff Agbaeze disclosed that the Initiative seeks to, among other benefits, identify genuine farmers, link communities to commodities, build a credible Agricultural database and develop an Agric road map for the State.
Dr Agbaeze explained that the Initiative will also ensure that the State benefit from Federal Government and other Agricultural Development Agency’s targeted interventions and support for farmers to ensure food availability and sufficiency.
He further enjoined Farmers in the state to avail themselves the opportunity to be captured which according to him is in line with the vision of Governor Alex Otti to revolutionalize Agricultural sector in the State.
Contributing, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Ijeoma Aguwa, maintained that proper assessment of farmers in the State have become necessary in order to ascertain their major challenges and solicited the support of all critical Stakeholders in the Agriculture Sector to achieve the vision of the Governor in the Agricultural sector.
In his remarks, the Chief Executive Officer, Kitovu Technology Company, Mr. Nwachinemere Emeka, explained that the enumeration exercise will enable the Company have accurate data of Farmers in the State for future purposes and enjoined farmers to accord the team all the necessary support.
