Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti has charged the new executive of the National Association of Abia State Students (NAAS), to lead with honesty, transparency, fear of God and a deep sense of responsibility.

Governor Otti who gave the charge at the Faculty of Law, Abia State University Uturu, Umuahia Campus during the inauguration of NAAS executive, enjoined them to ensure that their actions reflect the values and spirit of the new Abia, be the bridge between government and the students as well as remain the standard-bearers of unity and progress anywhere they find themselves.

The Governor represented by his Chief of Staff, Pastor Caleb Ajagba while describing the theme of the inauguration, “Beyond the Books: Shaping Scholars and Building Leaders,” as not only timely but deeply reflective of the pressing need for a shift in how they perceive education.

The State Chief Executive noted that education is not solely about academic achievement, but about the transformation of minds, the development of character, and the nurturing of leadership potentials that will shape the future of communities and the state at large.

He disclosed that under his leadership, Abia is experiencing a renaissance in education as his administration has continued to demonstrate an unwavering commitment to educational reforms by investing in the rehabilitation of schools, regular payment of teachers’ salaries, and the introduction of ICT-driven learning environments.

The Governor further congratulated the new NAAS executive on their successful emergence, urging them to remain focused, avoid distractions and develop the leadership qualities that will set them apart.

In his speech, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Student Affairs, Comrade Chinedu Nwosu, thanked Governor Alex Otti for his continued support for all student development initiatives and for remaining committed to creating opportunities that empower Abia youths to thrive both within and beyond the classroom.

Also speaking, the NAAS returning officer, Comrade Nnadozie Nkemjika, congratulated the new executive on their victory and urged them to see their emergence as a call to serve and not a privilege.

Our correspondent reports that the Dean, Faculty of Law ABSU, Prof. Chijioke Collins among other notable personalities were present during the inauguration ceremony.
