The Abia State government has officially flagged-off operational units of Abia State Community Policing and Vigilante across the Seventeen Local Government Areas of the state to enhance security especially in rural areas.
Speaking while performing the exercise at Obikabia junction in Obingwa LGA, the State Commander, Abia State Community Policing and Vigilante, Apostle Daniel Iheadindueme said the move is in line with Governor Alex Otti’s commitment to ensuring adequate protection of lives and property of the citizens.
Apostle Iheadindueme commended Governor Otti for his unwavering commitment to fostering peace and strengthening security across Abia State, adding that the Governor’s proactive measures, including the reactivation of strategic security frameworks and collaboration with relevant security agencies, have significantly improved safety in previously troubled areas.
The ASCP Boss explained that by virtue of prioritizing the protection of lives and property, Governor Otti has continued to demonstrate responsible leadership and a deep concern for the well-being of Abians, pointing out that his efforts has continued to restore public confidence, encouraged economic growth, and created a more stable environment for development to thrive.
He also lauded the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, Navy Commander, Mac-Donald Ubah, Rtd, for his relentless efforts, support and strategies at ensuring that crime is drastically reduced in Abia and promised that his outfit will continue to live up to expectation.
Also speaking, the CEO/Executive Director, Prince Chibudo Fuel Station, Dr. Chibudo Prince, commended Abia state government for setting-up operational units for Abia State Community Policing/Vigilante across the 17 LGAs of the state, describing it as a viable strategy to combating crime and criminality and pledged his support to the ASCP.
In a vote of thanks, the Chairman, Obikabia Market Aba, Comr. Osinachi Isaac, applauded the State government for initiating the development which will contribute and guarantee the peace and safety of traders and residents in the area.
The ASCP Commander for Umuahia South, Mr Raymond Amuzie and his Obingwa LGA counterpart, Mr Chikezie Ubani, representative from Operation Crush among other distinguished personalities witnessed the flag-off exercise.
