Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti, says that the upgrade and retrofitting of the Okpuala Ngwa General Hospital will soon commence following the mobilization of the contractor.

Governor Otti who announced this during a reception ceremony held at Umueleghele Primary School, Isi-Eketa in Isiala Ngwa South LGA for new entrants from the PDP into the Labour party including Dr Gershun Amuta, Chief Chinagorom Nwankpa and host of others, assured that the remaining period of his first tenure will be filled with greater service.
Governor Otti who welcomed the new entrants into the Labour party, congratulated them on the wise decision, assuring them of equal treatment and opportunities.
He directed the Mayor of Isiala Ngwa South LGA to ensure that the new entrants are treated well without any form of discrimination as they are now members of one family.
In his speech, the immediate past Deputy Governor of Abia State, Sir Ude Okochukwu, said that he is happy to be in the same camp with Governor Alex Otti as the Governor has shown capacity and redefined leadership, urging the people of Isiala Ngwa South and Abians in general to partner the Governor in the new Abia project.
In their remarks, the National Secretary of Labour Party, Senator Darlington Nwokocha, the Member representing Isiala Ngwa North and Isiala Ngwa South Federal Constituency, Hon. Chief Ginger Onwusibe and Member representing Isiala Ngwa South State Constituency, Hon. Roland Ceaser, said that the people of Isiala Ngwa North and South will vote massively for Governor Otti in the 2027 general elections based on performance and competence, adding that Governor Otti has made them proud through focused and service-driven leadership.
Also, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Prince Uzor Nwachukwu, his Power and Public Utilities counterpart, Engr. Ikechukwu Monday, the Mayor of Isiala Ngwa South LGA, Hon. Nnadozie Nwogwugwu and a former Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr Dannie Ubani, appreciated the new entrants for their bold move, adding that their entrance into the party has made the 2027 Governorship election a walk over for Governor Alex Otti in Isiala Ngwa South LGA.
Speaking on behalf of the decampees, Chief Chinagorom Nwankpa, a former House member, Hon. Remijus Nji, Sir Edwin Ihejirika, Lady Gloria Agomoh, among others said that their formal defection brings an end to the reign of other political parties in Isiala Ngwa South and commended Governor Alex Otti for redefining leadership.
The event which featured presentation of Labour Party flags to the new entrants was attended by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, the Member representing Isiala Ngwa North State Constituency, Hon. Chief Collins Ugochukwu Iheonunekwu, Mayor of Isiala Ngwa North LGA, Ambassador Innocent Uruakpa, stakeholders from across the state including a former SSG, Dr Emeh Okoro, Eze Nelson Nmerengwa and host of others.
