In a proactive effort to prepare civil and public servants for life after active service, an Abia State public servant, Deacon Godson Nzuzor, has authored a book titled “Do Not Retire in Tears.”

The book is aimed at equipping workers in both the public and private sectors with the knowledge and mindset required for effective retirement planning.
The official presentation and public launch of the book is scheduled to hold on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at 2pm, at the Police Officers’ Mess, Factory Road, Umuahia, Abia State.
As part of activities marking the book launch, a thanksgiving service will be held earlier the same day by 9am at the Assemblies of God Church, Ndume Metropolitan Assembly, Umuahia, where gratitude will be offered to God for the successful completion of the book and the author’s journey in public service.
The book launch ceremony is expected to attract notable personalities, with Professor Udochukwu Ogbonna serving as the Chairman of the occasion. The book will be reviewed by Apostle David Onuoha, while Mr Emmanuel Ogata will perform the role of Chief Launcher.
Deacon Godson Nzuzor, the author, is a Town Planner and a staff of the Abia State Ministry of Lands. He hails from Ohokobe Mbaocha Ndume Ibeku in Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia State.
Drawing from years of experience in public service, the author uses the book to highlight common pitfalls of retirement, the importance of early planning, financial discipline, and purposeful living beyond paid employment.

Speaking on the motivation behind the book, Nzuzor emphasized that many retirees face hardship not because they did not work hard, but because they failed to plan adequately for retirement.
“Do Not Retire in Tears,” is designed to serve as a practical guide that encourages workers to take deliberate steps towards a stable and fulfilling post-retirement life,” he noted.
Members of the general public, especially civil servants, private sector employees, and those approaching retirement age, are encouraged to attend the event and obtain a copy of the book, which promises to be a valuable resource for long-term personal and financial planning.
