It was an atmosphere of joy and celebration as eminent personalities, traditional rulers, friends and well-wishers gathered to celebrate the annual Umuodomba Day and Home Coming ceremony organized by the Umuodomba Community to honour their wife and Special Assistant to the Governor on Arts, Culture and Creative Economy, Mrs Matilda Anyamele.
Speaking at the event held at Umuodomba Civic Hall, Ohuru Ndoki in Ukwa East Local Government Area, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Arts, Culture and Creative Economy, Mrs Matilda Anyamele commended Governor Alex Otti for demonstrating a remarkable commitment to transforming Abia State since his assumption of office by bringing in a wave of change across various sectors, with significant strides in infrastructure, healthcare, education, and agriculture.
“Roads that were once in deplorable conditions are being reconstructed, and new ones are being built to improve connectivity across the state. In healthcare, Governor Otti has initiated reforms aimed at improving the delivery of quality medical services, including the renovation of hospitals and the provision of modern equipment. In education, his government is focused on revitalizing schools, equipping them with necessary resources, and fostering a more conducive learning environment for students.”
In the agricultural sector, Mrs Anyamele disclosed that Governor Otti’s administration is taking bold steps to promote sustainable farming practices and ensure food security for Abians by providing financial and technical support to farmers in other to boost agricultural productivity as well as create jobs for rural communities.
“Governor Otti’s administration is also working to promote industrialization, with a focus on attracting investors to the state to boost the local economy. These transformative efforts are not just aimed at immediate benefits, but also at laying the foundation for a prosperous Abia in the long term.”
“However, the continued success of these initiatives requires the support and cooperation of all Abians. Communities across the state must remain actively engaged in supporting the government’s projects and programs.”
Mrs Anyamele lauded the Wife of the Governor, Mrs Priscilla Otti for her dedication and determination to winning the fight against gender based violence, rape and abuse and ensuring that women are respected and given their pride of place in society.
She further appreciated the Umuodomba people, the Umuodomba Women Development Union and the entire indigenes of Ukwa East LGA for their relentless dedication, contributions, perseverance and unwaivering support to the Governor Alex Otti led administration in the state.
“By supporting the Dr Alex Otti’s administration in the state, Abians can ensure that the transformative strides made by the Governor are sustained and built upon. Public-private partnerships, community involvement, and a collective commitment to progress are essential to achieving the vision of a prosperous and thriving Abia State. In their responses, the Prime Minister of Ohuru Ndoki Community, Chief Echika, the Chairman of Umuodomba village, Mr Ndidi Anyamele, the Chief Host of the occasion and members of the planning committee who were visibly elated, expressed deep gratitude to Governor Alex Otti for appointing their wife, Mrs. Matilda Anyamele, as his Special Assistant on Arts, Culture, and Creative Economy and for his numerous transformative strides across all facets of the state economy.
He also used the opportunity to appreciate the Wife of the Governor, Mrs Priscilla Otti for her untiring efforts in the fight against gender-based violence, rape, and abuse, which has remained a significant focus of her initiatives, and reiterated their commitment and determination to continue to support the state government in fostering a society where women are empowered, protected, and respected.
The event which attracted notable personalities also featured prayers for the state government, goodwill messages, cultural displays, opening of bank accounts for members of the community that doesn’t have any by Signature Bank and the presentation of gift items to the people by Mrs Anyamele as a symbol of her appreciation for their vital role in both local and state-level progress.
