Worried by the lackadaisical attitude of some workers in the Service, the State Head of Service, Mr. Benson Ojeikere has called for the strict application of the Public Service Rules, Financial Regulations and other Extant laws in the execution of Government business.

Addressing Permanent Secretaries in Umuahia, Mr Ojeikere attributed the problem bedeviling the Service today to failure to apply the rules irrespective of whose ox is gored.
Mr. Ojeikere charged Permanent Secretaries to enforce discipline and adopt service-oriented measures and restore the dignity of the Service.
The Head of Service described training and retraining as one of the present Government’s top agenda for the workforce and announced the introduction of a mandatory weekly in-house training programs across all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
According to him, the weekly training is aimed at enhancing the skills and knowledge of public servants, as well as identify areas for improvement to deliver exceptional services.
Mr Ojeikere added that as part of measures to encourage transparency, accountability, hard work and excellence within the service, Government will recognize and reward the most improved workers, including Permanent Secretaries.
The State Head of Service who reiterated the zero tolerance to corruption policy of Governor Alex Otti administration, admonished workers to stay away from acts that would further degrade and ridicule the Service.
Responding, on behalf of other Permanent Secretaries, the Permanent Secretary/Solicitor General, Mr. Paul Ogubunka assured of their unwavering commitment to work for the actualization of the Governor Alex Otti’s vision for the Civil/Public Service.
